POSTURAL BODY ALIGNMENT

physical.jpg

Optimal posture allows us to function most efficiently. In correct posture (side view),

a line, similar to a plumb line used in building, dropped from the level of your ear will fall straight to your shoulder, through the middle of your pelvis, knees and feet.  Your head, trunk, pelvis and knees are “stacked”, one on top of the other. Deviations or muscles out of balance from this positioning can have  negative consequences on your health and well-being.

Your Postural Evaluation

Your postural deviations are detailed in the first assessment  You will see photos of yourself from

the side, front and back. Your center of gravity or how your body is balanced over your feet.

Your Customized Program

We will develop a customized exercise (strengthening and stretching) program for you

This routine is designed to target the root of the deviations listed in order or priority in your report. The goal is to balance the activity of opposing muscle groups acting on your joints and/or body segments in order to return you to correct posture. Problems in posture may be related to some muscles being over-developed and needing to be stretched, and others being weak and needing to be strengthened.

Posture is a Reflection of the Health of Your Spine

It's estimated that 90% of the population has a posture profile of the head being in front of the shoulders. This doesn't make it "normal" just prevalent. But there is much more to this than not looking your best. If a person maintains this posture for a long period, months or years, the following can occur:

  • Head Moves Forward

  • Shoulders Become Rounded

  • Arms Rotate Inward

  • Chest cavity compresses

  • A Dowager's hump can develop

  • It’s estimated that for every inch the head moves forward, an additional 15-30 pounds

  • of tension is placed on the cervical muscles. t can also lead to . . .

  • Joint dysfunctions

  • Diminished joint range of motion

  • Accelerated arthritic changes in the joints

  • Additional stress on spinal disks.

Muscle Changes

Muscles can become weak when held in a shortened state. This can happen due to prolonged poor posture. Muscles that are stretched and held in that position for prolonged periods develop “stretch- weakness” . No matter how you work or play, posture affects your overall performance.

Early Detection & Correction

We use high-tech posture analysis tools that detect posture deviations. Finding poor posture results early means a greater chance of correction.Poor posture does not have to be a lifetime curse.
